The European Commission has increased the REACH registration fees and introduced new rules for small companies wishing to benefit from reduced fees. This is stipulated in regulation (EU) 2025\/2067.<\/p>\n

The standard registration fee, payable to European Chemicals Agency, for substances in the largest tonnage band has increased from \u20ac 25,274 to \u20ac 30,202. This increase would reflect the inflation rate over a three-years period.<\/p>\n

Fees for small and medium sized companies remain unchanged. However, to benefit from the reduced fees for so called SME\u2019s (Small or Medium sized Enterprises), a new process needs to be followed, which may increase the duration of the registration process with two months. This is because SME\u2019s now must apply for a recognition of SME status at least two months before the submission of a registration dossier. Also they need to provide extensive documentation so that ECHA can check the SME status.<\/p>\n

Obviously this is meant to prevent too many companies from taking advantage of the lower costs. Downside is that the administrative burden for small companies increases.
